Dear Mr. Denton:
On July 6, 1984 Duke Power Company submitted a revised Catawba FSAR Table 1.9-1 (Page 16) which addressed NUREG-0737, Item II.K.3.17, Report on Outages of Emergency Core Cooling Systems. That submittal was a restatement of a commitment which is discussed in Section 13.5.2 of the SER.
It has since come to our attention that the Staff had previously made findings on other NT0L's that active participation in the Nuclear Plant Reliability Data System (NPRDS) and compliance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.73 satisfy the requirements of II.K.3.17.
As an active participant in NPRDS and subject to the requirements of 10 CFR 50.73, it is our conclusion that the separate reporting of emergency core cooling system outage information in accordance with II.K.3.17 is unnecessary and therefore the previously submitted revision to FSAR Table 1.9-1 (Page 16) will not be included in Revision 12.
