RESULTS OF OPERATOR LICENSING EXAMINATIONS AND REQUALIFICATION EXAMINATIONS FOR THIRD QUARTER FY 1984
Purpose:
To infonn the Comissioners of examination and licensing
's activities for Reactor Operators and Senior Reactor Operators, including requalification examination results.
Discussion: The enclosed tables report licensing action results, including issuances, denials or withdrawals and pass / fail rate for each NRC licensing examination component. The results are presented as a combined total a'nd broken down by region. We have also included a graph sumarizing the examination results by region for this quarter.
It shows the percentage pass rate by license and exam type and the total number of exams given broken down by region. We continue to see variations in the percentages in the individual categories of the Regions; however, these I
variations reflect the impact of small sample sizes when one test administration results in a large failure rate. We are continuing to track trends in examination results by region l
and have not identified statistically significant trends that are not explained.
Also included are tables shcwing the evaluations of the requalification examinations given for the third quarter FY 1984. All final requalification program evaluations have been satisfactory.

. o REQUALIFICATION EXAtilNATIONS Third Quarter PY 1984 Region IV Facility Evaluation Arkansas 1 Satisfactory.
Region IV administered two categories on one R0 and five SR0 written exams plus gave complete orals to two R0's and four SR0's.
Arkansas 2 Satisfactory.
Region IV administered cne category on R0 and SR0 written exams and gave six orals.
All passed.
Cooper Satisfactory.
Region IV administered two R0 and four SR0 written and oral exams. The results were marginal and required utility response for improvement.
Region IV has accepted the utility's corrective action program.
Renewal licenses will be issued contingent upon completion of this upgraded program.

Initial findings were marginal.
Utility is submitting proposed corrective action program.

Trojan (valuation in progress. Region V has accepted utility's corrective action program wherein utility has agreed to upgrade their accelerated retraining, remedial training and requalification program by August 31, 1984. Results will be reported when the revised program is received and evaluated.
