DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Final Design Information Related to Reactor Vessel Level Instrumentation In our letter dated April 2, 19F 5 we provided our commitment to supply by July 1, 1984 our plans for c"-
reactor vessel water level control board display. The purpose of
- .e.s letter is to provide those plans. This information is a few days late due to recent heavy demands placed on our technical staff.
The reactor vessel level instrumentation system will include all standard hardware included in the Westinghouse design which has been reviewed and found acceptable by the NRC Staff. The standard Uestinghouse vessel level display units will be installed in the Control Room, but because of their size, will not be installed on the control board. There are two display units per reactor and each unit is very large. Installing four display units on the control board is not desirable.
The units will be installed in the vicinity of the incore thermocouple panels near the control room entrance. This work will be completed in both Units by December 31, 1985 as reported earlier.
In addition, the same reactor vessel level display format will be available to control room operators on CRTs fed from the emergency response facility computer.
This computer, which is yet to be installed, will be used to implement the Safety Parameter Display System and other safety enhancements at the Prairie Island Plant.
The schedule for completing the computer system was included in the June 19, 1984 NRC Order Confirming Commitments on Emergency Response Capability.
