SPECIAL REPORT -

CATAW13A NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 2

- Vibration and Loose Parts Monitoring System Channel 11-1 On January 10, 1992 Channel ll (Steam Generator C) of the Vibration and Loose Parts Monitoring System was declared inoperable due to a 60 liz noise on the channel. A grounding problem.with the cable is suspected to be the cause. A work request has been written to repair the channel during a future outage of sufficient length. This is being scheduled for an outage because a containment entry is necessary to make the repair.

Channel 7, which is the other Steam Generator C channel, is functioning and provides coverage.

Since the channel has been inoperable for more than 30 days, it is reportable to _the NRC pursuant to Technical Specification 3.3.3.9.
