Purpose:
The purpose of this meeting is to continue dialogue on recommendations contained in the Nuclear Energy Institutes white paper on Spent Fuel Performance Margins dated November 8, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)
Accession No. ML19318D971). This workshop will build upon discussions held during the January 22, 2020, public workshop (see summary at ADAMS Accession No. ML20028F277) and will focus on three technical areas: dose rates, graded acceptance review process, and review approaches when Phenomenon Identification and Ranking Tables (PIRTs) are used in applications. The goal of the workshop is to align on problem statements, requested regulatory products, and next steps for each.
In the morning, industry will present its plans for addressing recommendations related to dose rates, specifically Recommendations V-1 and V-2 of the white paper.
In the afternoon, the NRC will present its plans for addressing recommendations related to a graded acceptance review process, specifically Recommendation II-1 in the white paper. The NRC will also present its plans for addressing recommendations related to NRC reviews when applications use PIRTs, specifically Recommendation IV-2 in the white paper.
