a Saquoyah Nuclear Plant -

i Erosion Control Report Winter 1983 - Spring 1984 t

Onsite construction activity at SQN continues to decrease. Present construction activity is primarily limited to completion of specialized support facilities such as the new makeup water treatment plant, additional office space, etc. Little or no new earthwork is anticipated. Final i

grading and cover is being provided in many areas as construction is completed. We plan to reclaim all major exposed areas onsite by this fall.

i The following information is provided as a status update for erosion control activities onsite. The areas referred to herein correspond to those identified in the erosion and sediment control plan dated December 1982.

1.. Area 1 - LLRW Access Construction has been completed in the area and a good stand of vegetative cover established. This area is well stabilized, and we plan no further action (other than minor " touchup") or reporting for this area.

2.

Area 2 - LLRW Riverside This area is well stabilized by a good stand of vegetative cover and the placement of 6dditional riprap along the steeper sideslopes. We plan no further action or reporting for this area.

3.

Area 3 - LLRW Construction and Borrow Area The remaining 13 LLRW storage modules planned for construction in this aarea will not be built. Therefore, reclamation of this area is scheduled to begin this spring and be completed at the end of the fall (1984) sowing season.

l 4.

Area 4 - Borrow Area and LLRW (Upperside)

This area has been partially revegetated; however, this is the only available source of acceptable barrow remaining onsite. Therefore, the I

barrow site will remain open until all roadwork, etc., is completed.

The adjacent soil will be revegetated providing an extensive buffer i

i zone minhaising sediment transport from the borrow area.

t 5.

Area 5 - Plantsite of Cold Water Return Channel

{

Grading and surfacing of t;.e roadbed in this area is scheduled for the f

spring. Road construction'and revegetation in this area will be

^

completed this fall. Until that time, existing erosion controls will remain in place.

6.

Arco 6 - Discal Genarotsr Buildings

" Touchup" work (minor regrading, seeding, and/or mulching) is planned for this spring. However, this area is essentially at final grade with vegetative cover well established.

7.

Area 7 - Cooling Tower Continuation of the perimeter road along with final grading for proper drainage in this area is scheduled for completion this fall. Erosion controls will remain in place.

8.

Area 8 - Spoil and Transmission Tower Area The spoil area is progressively reclaimed as construction proceeds.

All runoff continues to be directed through control devices and to the yard drainage pond.

9.

Area 9 - Sewage Treatment Plant under Construction Construction of the sewage treatment plant has been completed and the construction area brought to final grade. Vegetative cover has been started with additional sowing planned for the fall season. No further reporting for this area is planned.

10.

Area 10 - Warehouse Area Adjacent to Fish Trap The warehouse is still in use, and no decision concerning its ultimate disposition has yet been made. Erosion controls will be maintained in this area.

11. Area 11 - Remaining Warehouse Area No action is necessary or has been taken to control erosion in this area. The status of this area for erosion and sediment loss is not
  • anticipated to change. Therefore, no further reporting for this area is planned.

12.

Area 12 - Land Area Next to ERCW Intake The status of this area remains unchanged. Erosion controls will continue to be maintained in this area.
