Mechanical Cable Termination Lugs
Dear Mr. Johnson:
This letter withdraws the potential 10CFR50.55(e) concerning Mechanical Cable Termination Lugs at Wolf Creek Generating Station. This matter was initially reported by Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KG&E) on November 18, 1983, and additional information was submitted in the reference.
A review of specifications for the safety-related load centers (NG01, NG02, NG03, NG04) has insured that either the mechanical or compression type cable termination lugs are acceptable for usa in these load centers.
Due to the need to completely remove the mechanical type lugs from the subject load centers for inspection, KG&E opted to replace the existing mechanical type lugs with qualified compression type lugs. However, no damaged mechanical type lugs were found during the complete inspection of the safety-related load centers. Based on the aforementioned activites, KG&E has concluded that this matter is not reportable pursuant to 10CFR50.55 (e).
