The purpot,e,, his letter is to express Carolina Power & Light CompanyN intent to proceed w e.h the developm.'s of a power uprate license amendment application for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Units 1 and 2. Our obje:tive is to Jut.tify power operation by increasing reactor steam flow output by 4.7 percent (corresponding to a main turbine steam flow increase of 4.8 percent). A change in reactor power of 4.0 percent will t>e required to support the increi ed steam flow. Our current schedule is to submit a license amendment application to the NRC in November 1992.
Carolina Power & Light Company intends to use the General Electric Licensing Topical Report as the basis for the power uprate amendment application. We appreciate the Staff's decision and efforts to review the General Electric Licensing Topical Report in a timely manner. Carolina Power & Light ",ompany believes that the generic approach currently under Staff review will minimize the uncertainty and resource impacts for both utilities and the NRC.
