Dear Sir:
The NRC was notified-of a potentially reportabic deficiency in the referenced telephone conversation. At that time, it was estimated that a determination of reportability would be made within thirty (30) days.
Due to the extensive investigation and evaluation required, an Interim-Report is attached. It is now expected that this information will. be finalized by August 17, 1984, at which time a complete report will be~
submitted.

INTERIM REPORT - DER 84-24 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY (APS) -
PVNGS UNIT 1 I. Pdtential Prdblem Four instances have been noted concerning loose bolts on valve operators. Limitorque valve operators are loose on the valve bodies after bolts are torqued and inspected. The cause of these bolts
'becoming loose is indeterminate.
'The following valves were found in this condition: 1JKSIAUV666, 1JSIBUV667, 1JSIBUV636, 1JSIAUV637, 1JSIBUV646, 1JSIAUV647 and 1JSIAUV688.
II. Approach Td and Status of Proposed Resolutida Bechtel engineering is currently studying the problem to determine reportability and technical justification for corrective action.
III. Prdjected Completion of 'Chrrective Action and Submittal'of the Final I
Report Evaluation of this condition and submittal of the Final Report is forecast to be completed by August.17,1984, s
