Subject:

' Action Plan to Respond to Steam Generator Tube Mechanical Plug Remova,1 Gentlemen:

North Atlantic Energy Service Corporation, (North Atlantic) stated in their January 30,1995 letter

~ [ Reference (b)] to the NRC that a review of Addendum 3 of WCAP-12244, Rev. 3, would be performed and the results of the review would be submitted to the NRC 30 days prior

This letter provides that response, r

The review was performed on Westinghouse WCAP-12245, Rev. 3, Addendum 4, titled

" Addendum 4 to Steam Generator Tube Plug Integrity Summary Repon". The report recommends that each utility implement a proactive, graduated approach for plug remedial action over the next five years.

North Atlantic has been proactive in the replacement of Alloy 600 mechanical plugs since this issue first was identified. As identified in Nonh Atlantic letter NYN-950ll, [ Reference (b)], Seabrook Station currently has six Alloy 600 mechanical tube plugs installed. North Atlantic plans to remove the one remaining cold leg Alloy 600 mechanical plug in Steam Generator "A" during the upcoming refueling

-outage,(ORO4), scheduled for November 1995. The remaining five Alloy 600 mechanical tube plugs are t

in Steam Generator's "B" and "C" cold legs and are scheduled to be removed during the next refueling outage, (OROS), scheduled for 1997.
