Response to Request for Additional Infonnation Regarding Steam Generator Tube Mechanical Plugs Gentlemen:

The NRC Staff requested infonnation regarding steam generator mechanical tube plugs during a meeting uith the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) [ Reference (f)]. North Atlantic Energy Service Corporation (North Atlantic) intends to comply with the recommendations set forth in the Westinghouse Owner's Group letter OG-94-107 dated December 30, 1994. This letter provides the requested infonnation for Seabrook Station.

North Atlantic has reviewed the responses to Bulletin 89-01 and its supplements and has

determined that the conclusions are still valid, and no immediate or short term actions are required.

i Seabrook Station currently has six Alloy 600 mechanical tube plugs installed. These plugs are in the cold legs of the steam generators,1 in "A",2 in "B" and 3 in "C." The six plugs are from lleat Number NX2387, a " group 2" heat as defined by Bulletin 89-01, Supplement 2, and their current life, as determined by WCAP-12244, Revision 3. Addendum 2 [ Reference (c)] is through the year 2061.

Nonh Atlantic will review Addendum 3 of WCAP-12244, Rev. 3, to determine its impact upon the previous conclusions as provided in responses to Bulletin 89-01 [ References (b) and (d)]. This review will address the options of repairing or replacing the installed plugs by the dates calculated in accordance t

North Atlantic will submit an action plan to address the remaining installed plugs at least 30 days prior to the next refueling outage, which is currently scheduled to begin January 6,1996.
