- 1) My name is Mike McAteer.
2)
I am employed by Duke Power Company in the Construction Department as a Powerhouse Mechanic at the Catawba Nuclear Station'in York County, South Carolina.
I have been so employed since 8/6/79
- 3) On 11/11/81, I was standing beside Powerhouse Mechanic, Jack Fox, when Q.A. Inspector, Larry Jackson, yelled to Fox and said, " Hey, let me see the red mark on that disc." Fox held the grinder up so Jackson could see the red mark.
Jackson said, "That ain't going to get it.
Take the disc off."
Fox got a wrench from his tool box and removed the grinding disc.
Jackson then asked Powerhouse Mechanic, Rick Green, and Mike.<Thornburg, if the red mark was on the disc when the first asked Fox to show him the disc.
Each man said it was.
Jackson took the disc and left.
Either that same day or the next, Jackson ca: e back and Red Tagged the pipe I was working on.
After seeing my pipe tagged, I informed my supervisor, Ed McKenzie.
After telling McKenzie about the tag, we went searchino for inspector, Jackson. When we found Jackson, McKenzie asked him the reason for tagging my pipe.
Jackson said, "If you don't tell me which r.ipe he is working on, I'll just put a tag on the whole area." McKenzie said, "Let's go to the Hill and get it straightened out."
Jackson then walked l
to a telephone.
I then walked back to my work area.
There was no name calling or threats made in my presence.
I nevu heard McKenzie mention settling tl.e incident anywhere other than on the Hill.

My name is Mike McAteer.

I am employed by Duke Power Company in the Construction Department at the Catawba Nuclear Project, in York County, South Carolina as a Powerhouse Mechanic.
3) on 11-11-81, Powerhouse Mechanic, Jack Fox was grinding a section of stainless steel pipe in RBI 1 where he was questioned by Q. A.
Inspector, Larry Jackson as to whether or not the grinding disc he was using had a red mark painted in the center.
The grinding disc was marked in the center whe'n Inspector, J[ckson, first ob-served Jack Fox grinding.
Fox did not mark the disc while Jackson was enroute to Fox's work area.
