Subject:

Seabrook Station Probabilistic Safety Assessment

Dear Sir:

Your letter of May 7, 1984 requested additional information associated with the "Seabrook Station Probabilistic Safety Assessment (SSPSA)", which we submitted to the NRC in February of 1984. We submitted the SSPSA for the staff's information and use.

We considered the assessment complete at the time of submittal, and terminated our agreement with the authors of the safety assessment.

Hence, since we have no plans to update the models until Unit 1 enters commercial operation, we are very reluctant to participate in any review or analysis of the report at this time.

Our position is further reinforced by the current suspended construction status of the project.

Considering this and the greatly reduced staff in our reproduction group, we do no; feel it is appropriate or possible to submit further copies of the reporcs requested. We do wish to emphasize that reproduction by others in not restricted.

Please contact Bruce B. Beckley at (603) 669-4000, if there are any further questions on this subject.

Very truly yours, YANKEE ATOMIC ELECTRIC COMPANY hb'w 8405230205 840518 v
