Power COmPCaatiom July 1,1983 3F-0783-02 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555

Subject:

Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 NUREG-0737, Item II.K.3.5 Automatic Trip of Reactor Coolant Pumps

Dear Sir:

On March 25, 1983, Florida Power Corporation proposed to submit a generic program by July 1,1983, in conjunction with the Babcock & Wilcox Owners Group in support of a revised manual reactor coolant pump trip criteria.

However, the Owners Group's development of such a program has not progressed to the stage where a submittal would be meaningful. It is currently estimated this program can be submitted by September 30, 1983.

Sincerely,

-l G. R. Westafer Manager i
