ASME Component Removal and Replacement
Dear Mr. Johnson:
This letter provides an interim report on a potential 10CFR50.55(e) concerning the removal and replacement of ASME components in support of cleaning and flushing procedures at Wolf Creek Generating Station.
This matter was initially reported by Mr. II. K. Chernoff of Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KG&E) to Mr. Doyle liunnicutt of the Nuclear Regu-latory Commission, Region IV, on June 13, 1984.
A concern has been identified relating to the handling and storage of ASME components removed from systems in support of flushing and cleaning procedures. Presently there is no indication that actual hardware defi-ciencies exists however, KG&E has begun an investigation of this matter.
Final resolution of this matter will await completion of this investigation.
The status of this potential 10CFR50.55(e) will be carried on the monthly status update as file 53564-K143. The final report or any significant new information will be submitted by separate correspondence. In the interim, please direct any questions concerning this subject to me or Mr. Otto Maynard of my staff.
