Mr.

R. Miller, Chief Operating Reactors, Branch 3 Gentlemen:
DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 AUXILIARY FEEDWATER SYSTEM OPERABILITY POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 In a letter dated June 20, 1983, Wisconsin Electric Power Company, licensee for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, proposed hardware modifications to the auxiliary feedwater system which would further ensure automatic initiation of auxiliary feedwater flow frem the motor-driven auxiliary feedwater pumps without operator action.
These modifications were in response to NRC staff concerns.
In a letter from Mr. Miller dated September 15, 1983, the NRC staff agreed that these modifications would satisfy the concerns in this area and that Wisconsin Electric should proceed with completion of these modifications.
This letter is to inform you that the subject modifications to the motor-driven auxiliary feedwater pump motor operated discharge valve controls were completed on June 29, 1984.
As requested in your September 15 letter, we will ensure that surveillance and testing of this modified motor-operated valve control logic is included in the Technical Specification required surveillance.
Very truly yours,
' J' Vice Preside lear Power C. W.
