Item 1 The pump portion of the IST Program was reviewed to verify that all pumps that are important to safety are included in the program and are subjected to the testing required by the ASME Code. An apparent omission is the fuel-oil transfer pumps. Please justify why these pumps are not in the program or else revise the program accordingly.
' Response The Emergency Diesel Generators Fuel Oil Transfer Pumps will be incorporated into the next revision of the IST program. This revision is anticipated to be completed by April 15, 1984.
Item 2 Similarly, the staff believes that the valves in the following systems should be included in the program:
o Fuel-011 Transfer System o
Ventilating systems that perform a function important to safety o
Diesel generator air-start valves o
Vacuum Breaker check valves on the Main Steam relief valve discharge lines (Valves B21-F037 A through 1).
Please justify the omission of these valves from the IST program or revise the program to include them.
