March 5, 1984 Violation 413/83-21-01 Amended Response Below is an amendment to our original response dated October 12, 1983:

(1)

(2)

(3) The following are the steps taken and the results achieved:

(A)

Deficiencies have been reported on Nonconforming Item Reports 17073, 17074, and 17076 to obtain Design input and correct the subject violations.

(B) Additional tray supports have been installed to provide places to attach and support cables in the unsupported bun-dies and to provide for separation away from the safety related conduit.

(C) Design has retrained Craft, QC, and Construction-Tech Support on Installation Specifications CNS 1390.01-00-0018, Separation Criteria; CNS 1390.01-00-0050, Criteria for Attachment of Cable to Cable Trays and Electray; and CNS 1390.01-00-0022, Guide for Cable Installation.

Training was completed on January 31, 1984.

(4) The folicwing are the corrective steps which have been and will be taken to avoid further violations:

(A) The QC inspection criteria for cable pulling (M-418 #9) has been revised to clarify inspections of cable bending radius and unsupported length during cable routing.

Also revised were inspection instructions during final walkthrough (M-41B #19) for QC inspectors to inspect for cable bend radius, u'1 supported length, and to assure that cable armor separations have been properly repaired prior to final turn-over of the EWC system.

(B) Variation Notice #43230 has been written to Installation Specification CNS 1390.01-00-0022 to give recommended and minimum bend radius requirements.

(C) Craft is checking areas in QA Condition I structures for bend radius, separation, unsunported distance, and cable supports prior to releasing areas to QC for final walkthrough.

(D) Craft is installing additional electrays,

conduits, and cable trays for cables to be within the maximum allowable unsupported length and to obtain proper cable separation.

Craft is also installing barriers over panels and cable tray covers to obtain proper cable separation.

(E) Any cabies exceeding the minimum bend radius per the revised specification will be repulled.

f JP0/HBT/LTP March 5, 1984 Page 2 (5) Actions required per NCIs' 17073, 17074, and 17076 to correct the original violations have been completed.

Full compliance with this item will be complete prior to Unit 1 fuel load.
