Dear Mr. Zugger:
The plant heating boiler was started up for training purposes on February 16, 1984. A blowdown sample collected for analysis indicated 9.4 ppm iron.
Inactivity of the boiler (last used January 4, 1984) is believed to have boon che reason for the iron level.
The boiler was in use for training only a short time.

Pursuant to the requirements of Appendix B, Part II, Nonradiological, Environmental Protection Plan, Section 3.2, a copy of the report to the Michigan Water Resources Commission notifying them of a high iron concentration in the Heating Boiler Blowdown, is attached.
This report is required by Amendment No.
54 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-58 and Amendment No. 40 to Facility Operating License ho. DPR-74 dated May 6, 1982.
