Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 Attention: Ms. E. G. Adensam, Chief Licensing Branch No. 4 Re: Catawba Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414

Dear Mr. Denton:

My letter of October 13, 1983 provided a response to SER Open Item 2, Performance of the SNSW Pond.

In this response we advised the NRC staff that the design maximum temperature of the SNSW pond and associated pipe in the Nuclear Service Water System had been raised from 95 F to 100 F.

The purpose of this letter is to advise that all essential equipment cooled by this system has been requalified for 100 F.

Very truly yours,

/
