SUBJECT:
Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station (0CNGS)

We are convinced that data on frequency of hazardous material shipments on Route 9 in the vicinity of Oyster Creek are not available based on correspondence with the NJ Department of Transportation, NJ Office of Emergency Management, NJ Emergency Response Commission, NJ State Police Hazardous Material Transportation Unit and NJ Department of Environmental Protection.
In the absence of these statistics and in keeping with the intent of Reg. Guide 1.78, GPUN intends to demonstrate that adequate compensating measures are established to provide for the prompt recognition by Control Room personnel of a hazardous material incident on Route 9 in the vicinity of Oys'ter Creek. We anticipate the completion of the demonstration by June 30, 1992.
GPUN expects to complete a draft evacuation time estimate utilizing 1990 census data by the end of 1991 and a final by April 1,1992, The results will be forwarded to you.
