Dear Mr. Denton:
Ms. E. G. Adensam's letter of January 20, 1984 transmitted a summary of the fire protection site audit which was conducted on Ncvember 1-4, 1983.
Item 12 of this summary discussed compliance with NFPA Standard No. 72D in the design of the fire protection systems.
In response to this item, fire protection system valves which were equipped with tamper switches will be locked in the appropriate position since related circuitry has not been supervised per NFPA 72D.
An exception is motor operated valves which, in addition to position indication on the fire protection / fire detection system console, have position indication on the RF/RY valve control board in the Control Room.
Independent switches and circuitry are used to provide the separate means of annunciation of these valves.
Fire protection valves which are accessible during normal operation will be visually inspected at thirty day intervals.
