Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Operating License No. NPF-12 Service Water Intake Structure Monitoring
Dear Mr. Denton:
In a letter. dated November 24, 1982 and a subsequent letter dated May 11, 1983, South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G) made a request to amend Section 2.C(5) of the Operating License for-the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station.
This request was forther modified in a letter dated October 21, 1983 to provide for a diver's inspection of the Service Water Intake Structure (SWIS) every five (5) years.
The request was based on the conclusions that the SWIS had stabilized and that SCE&G's external monitoring program, as described in the letter dated November 24, 1982, was adequate.
In subsequent discussions with the Staff, an agreement was made to modify the amendment to reguire SCE&G to report new cracks and observed changes in existing cracks found by the diver's inspection of the SWIS.
Based on this agreement, SCE&G requests that Section 2.C(5) of the Operating License for the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station be amended as provided in the attached revised license condition.
As stated in'the October 21, 1983 letter, SCE&G has determined that a finding of no significant hazards is justified.
A' check in the amount ot vour Thousand Dollars ($4000.00) has previously been submitted for this change in the letter dated November 24, 1982.
