   ,    S AFETY INJECTION SYSTEM FULL FLOW TEST                                                           Page 3 of 98 PURPOSE The purpose of this test is to demonstrate that the High Head Safety injection (HHSI) pumps can take suction from the Low Head Safety Injection (LHSI) pumps and that both HHSI and LHSI pumps can provide full flow to the Reactor Coolant System (RCS) from the Refueling Water Storage Tank (RWST). This test also exercises and verifies operation of Safety injection (SI) hot and cold leg check valves'in accordance with the ASME IST Program, and deterrnines if chattering exists in check valves [1S15,6 and 7] per information Notice 82 20.

In addition, Baron injection TarA Inlet and Outlet Isolation Valves [MOV 1SI 876A.B.C,D) will be stroked and timed to demonstrate their operability, This test is also used to verify branchline flow balancing through the cold leg injection lines and hot leg recirculation lines with the strongest HHSI Pump in accordance with WNSD Technical Bulletins NSD TB 81-10 and NSD TB 8011. Note: Parts A and 8 of this test are written so that they may be accomplished mdependently of each other. PART A - LOW HE AD S AFETY INJLQTJQfLFMI.L FLOW TEST

PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS PART A

1. Any LHSI pump should be shutdown immediately in the event of abnormal beh<ivior (i.e., low discharge pressure, exccuive vibration, unususi noises or high motor current).
2. The following starting duty should not be exceeded for the LHS: pumps: l l
a. Motor at ambient temperature, three (3) starts per hour.
b. Motor at rated total temperature, two (2) starts per hour.
3. Pressurizer Cold Cal level shall be maintained between 15% and 80% during the performance of this test.

INSTRUCTIQNS PART A Note: If desired. coordinate this procedure with OM 1.11.4.D. " Filling Reactor Refueling Cavity" and/or OM 1.20.4.E, " Draining the Refuehng Cavity". Note: If necessary to reduce pressurizer (refueling cavity) level, use the standby or inservice  ! RHR pump to return coolant to the RWST.

1. Obtain a portable vibration meter. Bently-Nevada. Models TK 85 and TK 81, or equivalent and record the Meter I.D. Numbers and Cal. Due Dates on Data Sheets 2 and 4

I A. Determination of System Differential Head (SDH) for HHSl Cold and Hot Leg Full Flow Acceptance Criteria

1. The following method is used to calculate system differential head in teet:
a. System differential head (SDH) is defined as the system suction head minus the  !

system discharge head. System head is composed of elevation heads, static pressures and pump total head (if LHSI is acting as the suction supply to the HH31 pump). The discharge elevation head is corrected to suction side fluid temperature and density conditions, it is calculated as follows:
