Letter from TVA to NRC, dated August 1, 1988: " Response to Generic Letter 88-01, NRC Position on ICSCC in hWR Austenitic Stainless Steel Piping," dated January 25, 1988 The _ purpose of this letter provides the BFN Unit 2 position on stress improvement of six Core Spray System velds with austenitic stainless steel fittings.
In Reference 1 Section 7.0, TVA committed to perform induction heating stress improvement (111S1) on the subject velds.
Ilovever, after evaluating the technical merit of this type of stress improvement, TVA has determined that a mechanical stress improvement process will be utilized as the stress improvement method rather than 111SI,_as previously stated in References 1 and 2.
The enclosure contains the revised post-restart commitment for the six velds in the Core Spray System with austenitic stainless steel fittings, i
