Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. 522, as amended, the Nuclear Information and Resource Service requests the following documents regarding mothballed nuclear construction projects. Please consider the word " documents" to include reports, studies, test results, correspondence, memoranda and computer records. In your response, please identify which documents correspond to which requests below.

1. Provide the testimony of John Martin, Region V, before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy Conservation and Power hearing held on September 14, 1983 regarding the mothballing of WFPSS Nuclear Project No. 3;
2. Provide all memoranda and correspondence regarding the f orumulation of that testimony and subsequent responses required by the Subcommittee;
3. Provide all documents which offer guidance to the Staff in revi ewing Permi ttees ' plans to place a project in mothballs and to conduct maintenance of a mothballed project;
4. Provide all documents which discuss the modifications considered or required to existing equipment maintenance programs which are necessary or desirable for a plant in a mothballed state; and
5. Identify all documents in the possession of the NRC Staff regarding the effect of storage conditions and preventative maintenance on the integrity and operability of equipment and structures.

In our opinion, it is appropriate in this case for you to waive copying and search charges, pursuant to 5 U.S.C. 552 (a) (4 ) ( A)
