Pumps and Valves, Revision 3, Change 9.

This revision accomplishes three objectives:

1. It incorporates the program changes required as a result of the Notice of Violation (NOV) 95002-03 (Reference 3).. This NOV concerned the failure to adequately test the core spray pump discharge clieck valves. The change identifies the new testing requirements for these check valves as well as additional check' valves which can only be partial stroke tested in the open direction.
2. The Valve Relief Requests listed in the revised document have been reviewed and revised as discussed in our telephone conference of May 4,1995 with the following results:

VR-45 and VR-48 are refueling outage deferrals which meet the requirements of Generic Letter 89-04 and do not require prior NRC approval; L

(ii) VR-50 has been deleted; and I

(iii) VR-46, VR-47, VR-49, and VR-51 require NRC approval. VR-46, l.

VR-47, and VR-49 have been revised as discussed in the May 4,1995 telephone conference. VR-51 is the original and requires no funher j

revision.

All of the Valve Relief Requests (VR-45, VR-46, VR-47, VR-48, VR-49, VR-50, and VR-51) have been previously submitted to the NRC.

Other changes have been made as described in the Revision 3, Change 9 -

Summary included with the revised document. These changes are primarily changes resulting from the completion of RF04.

The Inservice Testing Program (Plan) changes will be implemented following revision of appropriate procedures.

The program changes are transmitted for your information and do not constitute a 10 year program update as required by 10 CFR 50.55a.
