Operating License DPR-28 Docket No. 50-271 Abnormal Occurrence No. A0-72-09 Gentlenent Aa defined by Technical Specifications for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, Section 6.7.A.c, we are reporting the following Abnormal Occurrence ao AO-72-09 and confirming our telephone conversation with your office on this date.

At approximately 3:00 p.tn. on October 26, during conduct of RCIC Surveillance Testing, two Barton steam line differential pressure switches (DPIS 13-83 and ~84) were found to actuate at >195" R20. This constitutes a violation of the pressure set point specified in Table 3.2.2.3 of Technical Specifications, which requires actuation at a pressure of 180 + 15" H20. The reactor was at approximately 60% power at the time of this occurrence.

The switches were imediately reset, functionally tested and verified to be operable within the tolerance specified. This remedial action was completed in a time span that precluded the necessity of further imediate action. .,,a w vi 0U2^ ,
