Docket No. 50-267 7

Valve Wall Thickness, Nuclear w

Safety Belated Valves

'Y Ref.:

USAEC Letter de.ted 11-11 -72 4

Dear Mr. Flora:

3D We would like to acknowledge receipt of the above referenced letter, and

?

inform you that we have initiated action to obtain the information requested.

C-In our particular case, such action requires a complete review of the various 5

systems and accident situations, to specifically determine which of our valves (if any) fall within the scope given by the referenced letter. Having de-1-

fined the valves, we must then determine what records are available, and what S

must be done to supplement missing records within the techniques outlined in 5

your letter.

33 Unfortunately we have not been able to accomplish all of these tasks 5

withinthethirty(30)daysallotted. We are presently completing our analysis

-r of the various plant systems and accident situations, in an attempt to define any and all valves that may be involved. It is too early to make any definite y

statements, but from all preliminary indications it would appear that we will 73 have very few valves, if any, that fall into the categories specifically defined by your letter. We would expect to complete our analysis within the

?'

next week, and we should be in a position by the first of the year to provide 3

=

you with the information requested or with some definite plans for obtaining T

the information and documentation required.

y

'E Please be assured that we are actively pursuing the matter. We will keep your Mr. Stewart abreast of our activities. Your consideration in this matter y

is greatly appreciated.

Very truly yours, Q
