s As a result of a condition discovered at another boiling water reactor, an icspectio.n of fuel channels was b'egun on October 5,1973.
Initial results indicate that of a total of seven (7) inspected to date, five (5) exhibit signs of "through-wall-wear".
This incident is interpreted to be reportable as defined by Section 1. A.4 of the Technical Specifications. The fuel channels provide a barrier t'o separate two parallel flow paths - one to cool the fuel bundles an,d the other to cool the bypass region between channels. This discovered wear pattern is a partial impairment of channel flow.
Further inspection is in progress and r. vigorous program will be pursued relative to final solution of this problem. We will advise further as additional information develops.
