Dear Sir:
In accordance with the " Staff Position on Reporting Requirements" provided in the Generic Letter 88-01 ("NRC Position on IGSCC in BWR Austenitic Stainless Steel Piping"), Philadelphia Electric Company (PECo) notified the NRC in the Reference 1 letter of a crack-like indication in a weld of the Reactor Water Cleanup (RWCU) system piping in Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station

(PBAPS) Unit 3.
In the Reference 1 letter we provided a description of the indication and stated that "a final weld design package will be submitted following repair of the weld for NRC approval prior to returning Unit 3 to service."
In response to this commitment, attached is a finalized design calculation for the repair of the wold (Attachment I).
Additionally, we are including a final report documenting the completion of the weld overlay (Attachment II).
Included in Attachment II are the results of the calculation concerning final shrinkage and overlay thickness information.
We request your review and approval of the supplied material such that PBAPS Unit 3 can return to service by December 2,
1991 which is the currently scheduled restart date for Unit 3.
Please note that the December 2, 1991 date represents a shorter schedule than previously conveyed in informal conversations.
