McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 1 Docket Number 50-369 Cycle 8 Reload Submittal; Revision to Reflect Redesign Necessitated By Failed Fuel Rod A report describing the McGuire Unit 1 Cycle 8 reload was submitted by Duke Power on June 26, 1991.-
During the current end-of-cycle (EOC) 7 refueling outage, ultrasonic testing of fuel assemblies to be loaded into Cycle-8 revealed a failed fuel rod in assembly H63.
This assembly was scheduled to be loaded into core location G-ll.
A replacement
- assembly, G19, has been selected from among assemblies discharged at EOC 6
to replace assembly H63.
An evaluation of the reload design showed negligible differences in core characteristics as a result of the change in fuel assemblies, and has confirmed the applicability of the original reload safety analysis performed for McGuire Unit 1 Cycle 8.
This change has required a revision to the reload report as submitted.
Accordingly, attached are four (4) replacement pages

for Attachment IV of the June 26, 1991 submittal.
The revised information is identified by a vertical line in the right-hand margin.
