San Onofre !?aclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3 Parsuant to the reporting requirements of Section 6.9.1.12.i of Appendix A, Technical Specifications to Facility Operating Licenses IEF-10 and IPF-15 for San Onofre Units 2 and 3, respectively, this submittal provides the written confirmation of our prompt notification to the NRC on August 26, 1983, of a reportable occurrence involving fire detection instrumentation.
%e 6-month routine surveillance performed in August 1983, disclosed 41 heat sensors in Zone 12 and 43 heat sensors in Zone 42. Technical Specification 3.3.3.7 requires 42 heat sensors in Zone 12 and 44 in Zone 42.
Since this occurrence involves shared systems between Units 2 and 3, in accordance with NURDG 0161, a single Licensee Event Report (LER) for Unit 2, LER !b.83-112 (Docket Ib. 50-361) will be submitted by September 12, 1983.
%is LER will include the results of the investigation of this occurrence and the corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
