Nelson, Supervisor Unit 1 Review Program at 1045 hours0.0121 days <br />0.29 hours <br />0.00173 weeks <br />3.976225e-4 months <br />, August 28, 1983, concerning the Hydrogen (H ) c ncentration in the TMI-l Waste Gas 2
Hold Up System.
This event, as described below, was considered to be report-able per Technical Specification 6.9.2.A.2 in that H concentration in the 2
Waste Gas Hold Up System exceeded 2% by volume and was not reduced to within limits within one hour (T.S. 3.22.2.5).
At 2330 hours0.027 days <br />0.647 hours <br />0.00385 weeks <br />8.86565e-4 months <br /> on 8/27/83, a high H alarm in the Waste Gas Hold Up System 2
(Vent Headers) was received.
A manual backup sample from this miscellaneous Waste Storage Tank Gas space indicated 4.6% H and an immediate Nitrogen 7
(N ) purge of the vent header system was starEed. The concentration of H 2
2 gas was reduced to less than 2% by 0930 8/28/83. The cause for the H 2
concentration increase is leakage from the Make Up Tank Gas Space into the vent header due to an incorrect valve lineup.
The Make Up Tank had just been pressurized with H gas earlier in the shift 2
on 8/27/83 as part of the RCS Heat Up for OTSG testing.
