This occurrence vac reported to W. S. Little by telephone on September 27,19'/3, and by telegram to the Region II Directorate of Regulatory Operations on Septenber 28, 1973 D2scrintion of the Incident At 6 p.u. on septe=ber 26, 1973, while the operator was invecti atinS 6 the cause of the alara " Stack Gar Flow Abnormal," he dicccvered tr.at etack gas renitor A ptrnp notor had failed, vnich stopped cample flov to the nonitor. When he attempted to start B cample pump, it would not start. Further investigation showed the pover cupply fuse which supplies both pumps had blova. The fute was replaced and E pump vas placed in cervice. The reactor was operating at 150-psig pressure during low-power startup testing. Invectication and Corrective Action The stack gas monitor has two cumple pumps, one of which must operate continuoucly. Eoth pumps are cupplied fro.n a cingle ccurce of pcVer through one 20-tsp fuce and a pump cclectcr cuitch. The pump motor failure was due to a bad cotor bearing which caused motor overload and overheating which reculted in vinding failure.
