20545 H. B. ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PIANT LICENSE DPR-23 FAILURE OF "B" DIESEL TO START DURING WEEKLY TEST
Dear Dr. Morris:
In accordance with Paragraph 6.6.1.c, Technical Specifications, the following abnormal occurrence is reported:
On January 3,1972 "B" emergency diesel genetator failed to start from the RTGB during the weekly test of this equipment. A local start was initiated and the equipment test run for 30 minutes. The diesel was retired and the malfunction investigated.
The trouble was determined to be dirt particles in the starting air solenoid valve preventing proper operation of the valve.
The valve was disassembled, cleaned and returned to service. A retest from the RTGB was successfully completed.
This occurrence was reported to A.E.C. Division of Compliance by telephone and telegraph on Janua n 4, 1972.
