Subjects interim 10FFR50.55(e) Report; Components and Component Supports Spanning Expansion Joints

Dear Sir:

On April 5, 1984, we re 3rted a potential 10CFR50.55(e) item regarding components and component sur, ports spanning structural expansion joints. We have identified conditions in t'.e containment annulus area where component support members span expansica joints that join two building elements.

The original designs of the cooponent supports did not consider this condition.

The expansion joint movements could apply additional stresses to the componer.t members and create resultant stresses that could exceed code limits.

A field walkdown of potentially ef fected plant areas will be performed to identify all expansion joint configurations which could adversely affect a component, component support, or the building steel. All identified situations will be ovaluated considering all appropriate design loading conditions. The reportability of this item remains under evaluation.

We will submit an additional report un this item by August 15, 1964 This report is being filed pursuant to the interim reporting provision of 10CFR50.55(e)(3).

Very truly yours, YA KEE TOH ECTRIC COMPANY 0405220393 040504 PDR ADOCK 0D000443 John DuVincentis D
