84-04 shut causing a high steam flow signal and a Group I isolation which generated the scram.
Caased by a stuck spool in the actuator test pilot valve. Spool valve assembly contained dirt. The test pilot valve was replaced. See LER 84-04.

SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCES Highlights Vermont Yankee operated at 92.63% of rated thermal power for the month.
Gross electrical generation was 360,710 MWH, or 92.90% of design electrical capacity.
Operating summary The following is a chronological description of plant operations including other pertinent items of interest for the month:
At the beginning of the reporting period the plant was operating at 99.9%
of rated thermal power.
840415 At 0030 hrs. a power reduction was initiated for concrol rod pattern adjustment and equipment surveillence.
840415 At 0208 hrs. a return to full power was started.
840416 At 0742 hrs. the reactor automatically scrammed because of an inad-vertent MSIV closure (See Unit Shutdowns and Power Reductions).
840416 At 2038 hrs. the reactor was critical.
840417 At 0102 hrs. the generator was phased onto the grid.
840420 At,2000 hrs. a power reduction was initiated for a control rod pattern exchange and equipment surveillance.
840420 At 2150 hrs. a return to full power was started.
At the end of the reporting period the plant was operating at 99.9% of rated thermal power.
