Turkey Point. Units Nos. 3 and 4
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Pursuant to your telephons request we are pleased to forward i
to you this letter concerning a recent Atlanta Compliance
[
Division report concerning the reqeipt of nuclear fuel at our Turkey Point Plant.-
Please be advised that there was no failure of quality assurance at either the Westinghouse fuel plant or at our plant.
Control rods, iplugs, and fuel. assemblies were placed'in shipping containers at the Westinghouse plant in Columbia, South Carolina, in a tsanner consistent with past l
practice, and in accordsuce with routine-shipping procedures.
I I
Shipping documents were completely accurate and were 107/.
j descriptive of the contents'of the containers.
The ship-ments were checked by Florida Power '& Light Company plant operating personnel -and the contents verified.
Fuel l
assembly loading procedures are completely adequate to
~
insure that there is a proper mating of plugs, rods, and l.
assemblies prior to loading.
Plant personnel have at all times been aware that relocations of rods and plugs would be necessary prior to loading, and procedures are in effect to carry this out.
Other fuel customers of Westinghouse (namely:
Virginia i
Electric and Power Company, _ Carolina Power & Light Company, Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation, and Wisconsin Michigan Power Company / Wisconsin Electric Power Company) have received fuel elements shipped in the identical manner to those shipped to us.
