Dear Mr. Denton:
Section 7.3.2.2 of the Catawba Safety Evaluation Report discusses Confirmatory Item 26, Compliance with IE Bulletin 80-06. This bulletin requests a review of.the ESF systems to verify that no device will change position solely
~because of the reset of the actuation signal. Such a review was performed and documented for the Staff.
Further verification that the installed instru-mentation and controls are in compliance with the requirements of IE Bulletin 80-06_is provided during pre-operational test TP/1/A/1200/03B, " Engineered Safeguards Feature (ESF) Test." Testing of Train A has been completed and this function was verified for equipment that was operated by an ESF signal.
Train B testing is scheduled for April 29, 1984. The completed procedure will be available after this date at the Catawba site for review by the NRC.
