Seabrook Station. While this defect has been reported by the Public Service Company of New Hampshire in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e), we are providing this 10CFR21 Report to assure that the commission has been adequately informed.

This'_was discovered during investigation of~a similar condition for.the Containment; Spray System Encapsulation _ Vessels.

IN CASE OF A BASIC COMPONENT WHICH CONTAINS A DEFECT OR FAILS TO COMPLY, THE C NUMBER AND LOCATION OF ALL SUCH COMPONENTS IN USE AT, SUPPLIED FOR, OR BEING SUPPLIED THIS PART: FOR ONE OR MORE FACILITIES OR ACTIVITIES SUBJECT TO THE REGULATIONS IN

'e The specific ASME III Code requirements narrowed down the investigation to the Washington Public Power Supply System (WNP-1) plant. A review of similar designs in WNP-1 revealed that no reportable deficiency exists in that plant. This defect applies only to the Seabrook Station, Units 1 and 2. ,

Modifications will be made to add gusset plates to the end plate of the 8 expansion joints in order to withstand the loading. United Engineers & y Constructors Inc. will be responsible for these modifications.
