Regarding your letter of April 13, 1934, concerning the docketing of Applicants' Response to Partial Initial Decision Regarding A500 Steel, dated April 11, 1984, as we discussed over the phone that day after your letter had gone out, Applicants had provided your office with the original and appropriate number of copies.
Applicants always serve a single copy of each pleading by mail and provide the original and additional copies by messenger the next day for stamping and to obtain a stamped copy for our files.

APPLICANTS' RESPONSE TO PARTIAL INITIAL DECISION REGARDING A500 STEEL In a Partial Initial Decision regarding revisions to the material properties tabulated for A500 tubular steel the Licensing Board ordered Applicants to submit analyses demonstrating that pipe supports manufactured with A500 steel have adequate safety margins.1 Pursuant to that order, Texas Utilities Generating Company, et al.
(" Applicants") hereby submit their response to the Board's Decision.2 For the reasons set 1

2 The Board has sinegrissued its Memorandum and Order (Quality Assurance for Design), December 28, 1983, in which it addressed several pipe support design ~ allegations and requested that Applicants submit a plan to resolve certain concerns raised in the Memorandum and Order.
The Board subsequently questioned whether it would be profitable to receive eviden'ce regarding the A500 steel question independent of "some additional procedure such has the independent design review [the Board] suggested."
