Dear Mr. Kruesi:

Subject:

Oyster Creek Station Docket No. 50-219 4

Quarterly Personnel Exposures i

-2 The purpose of this letter is to advise you that 11 n

employees assigned to the Oyster Creek Station received whole 3

body exposures in excess of 3 rems during the quarterly period h

of April 1, 1972 through June 30, 1972. This rerart is being f

submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 20.405.

H The extent of the exposures ranged from 3.010 rem to a

3.360 rem based upon film badge recults. The exposure of each individual by name is listed in Attachment A to this letter.

Each individual has been given written notification of his f

exposure, a

The above exposures occurred during an annual outage il for inspection and refueling in which unanticipated work was required in areas that had higher than expected radiation levels. v d

The levels of radiation involved varied, dependirig on the work l

assignment. Outside contractors and temporarily assigned company 3

personnel were utilized to complete work in these areas; however, j

it was necessary in some cases to provide these work crews with a

station personnel that were experienced in the nature of the 3

repair and in so doing, these station personnel were allowed to n

accumulate exposures close to the limit. The exposures over 3.0 rem occurred as the result of an inadequate allowance to account 6

for the difference between accumulated pocket dosimeter readings g

and final film badge results.
