The purpose of this letter is to request your concurrence for the disassembly, repair and reassembly of the two Unic #2 main steam isolation valves (MSIVs) and their respective 6" bypass valve.
These valves are part of the scope of

work for the Turbine Roll Milestone.
After the valve repairs are completed, temporary electrical jumpers in the valve operator will be needed to f acilitate check out of the valve repair.
This request is being made because the valves failed during construction hydrostatic testing earlier this week. Consumers Power Company needs to perform Q work to assess the damage, clean the water out of the valves to preclude damage and then make the necessary repairs so that the non-Q hydrostatic test can be completed.
The Unit #2 valves addressed here wil'1 have the Quality Verification (QVP) activities completed prior to work starting. The work will be performed un-der the Construction Work Plan (CWP) program once we obtain your concurrance.
The CWP will include the Quality Work Package (QWP) which will identify and taquire the appropriate quality inspections and functions to be performed.
A prompt reply to this letter would be appreciated due to the amount of work associated with this request.
