Mr.
R. A. Clark, Chief Operating Reactors Branch 3 Gentlemen:
DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 REQUEST FOR PROPRIETARY PROTECTION POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 On December 27, 1982 we received your letter dated December 22, 1982 which forwarded a Safety Evaluation Report (SER) for the environmental qualification of safety-related electrical equipment at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant.
This SER included a Technical Evaluation Report (TER) which contained information which had previously been claimed as proprietary.
Misconsin Electric was requested to notify the NRC whether any data or descriptions on the identified pages in the TER still required proprietary protection.
In a telephone call on or about January 3, 1983, we notified Mr. Colburn of your staff that elements of information contained on these pages in the TER did appear to include material which had previously been accorded proprietary protection.
We indicated that the owner of this information, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, would have to review the material and provide the detailed identification of this material and the specific rational and justification for withholding from public disclosure.
At that time, we requested an extension of seven days from the original twenty days you had allowed in.the SER to provide this response.
Mr. Colburn indicated this extension was permissible. 8302010595 830126 PDR ADOCK 05000266 P
