1 SALEM UNIT 2 OPERATIONS
SUMMARY
REPORT MARCH 1984 Unit No. 2 began the period shutdown as post-maintenance non-synchronized generator testing was successfully completed.
The unit was synchronized on March 4, and attained full power operation on March 9, 1984.
With the exception of minor load reductions on March 16, for turbine valve testing, and March 18, due to temporary loss of 2A Vital Bus, Unit No. 2 continued to operate at full power until March 22.
On March 22, load was reduced to 85% to replace No. 23 Heater Drain Pump Motor.
On March 23, unit load was further reduced to 50% to repair the speed control for No. 21 Steam Generator Feedwater Pump.
Subsequent to the repairs, a power escalation was commenced and the unit was returned to full power en March 25.
Unit No. 2 continued to operate at full power until March 29, when load was reduced to approximately 80% due to circulator screen fouling problems cauced by storm tide conditions.
Unit load remained reduced (85% to 90%) through the remainder of the month as the circulator screens were repeatedly cleaned of grass and debris.
