O Final Response to IE Bulletin 83-06 Items Supplied by Tube-Line Corporation to Catawba Nuclear Station Item a.
The four (4) pipe caps in question are used inside the Fuel Oil Day Tank as part of a level indicator. These pipe caps serve no pres-sure-retaining function and therefore do not require replacement.
Item b.
The two (2) elbows in question were furnished with the auxiliary feed-water pump turbine tube oil coolers. Material test reports have been traced to the heat number from the material manufacturer. The chemi-cal and physical analysis conform to the requirements for SA 312TP 304L, which is the material specified by our turbine manufacturer.
Also, the elbows have successfully hydrotested at 660 psig, which far exceeds our hydro-test requirement of 225 psig. Lastly, the material manufacturer has certified that these fittings were heat treated in accordance with ASTM-A312 requirements, so that heat sensitization is not a concern.
For these reasons, the elbows are considered accep-table as furnished and do not require replacement.
