Dear Mr. Conner:
In The Matter Of PHILADELPHIA ELECTRIC COMPANY Docket Nos. 50-352 (Limerick Generating Station and 50-353 Units 1 and 2)
AWPP's (Romano) 6th Recuest re Interrocatories Concernino Contenion VI-l Pursuant to the Board's Order concerning formal discovery, Air and Water Pollution Patrol requests the following re Contention VI-l (Quality Assurance / Control).
AWPP requests specific material that will not require searching through voluminous records.
AWPP does not want a treatise on all aspects of safety re-lated welding of stainless steel piping in the Limerick reactors, it only wants answers to the following specific questions:
(1)
Is there any stainless steel safety related piping used at Limerick?
(2)
Was any stainless steel piping used, or to be used at Limerick's boiling water reactor manufactured by the same man-ufacturer as supplied to the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant?
(3)
Whether or not from the same manufacturer, would such piping be equally susceptable to intergranular stress corrosion as occured at Vermont Yankee?
(4)
Provide (records) quality assurance records of heat-affected zones of welds made on all safety related stainless steel piping to insure that Limerick stainless steel does not have the same intergranular stress corrosion or other adverse effect.
(5)
What test methodology and/or quality assurance actions were used in checking possibility of stainless steel piping defects f r c.T welding or otherwise.
Respectfully yours, Igf0 0 Af?> d @ POLLUTION PATROL 2
