INTERIM REPORT - Revision 1 - DER 83-59 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ARIZONI. PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY ( APS)

PVNGS UNIT 2 I.

POTENTIAL PROBLEM Inspection of Unit 2, Safety Radiation Monitoring Cabinets (Tag No's 2J-SQA-C01 and 2J-SQB-C01) revealed that internal wiring is not in conformance with Class 1E separation requirements as defined in IEEE-384.

Inspection of Unit 2, Post Accident Radiation Monitoring Cabinets (Tag No's 2J-SQA-C05 and 2J-SQB-C05) revea?.ed that internal wiring is not in conformance with Class IE separation requirements as defined in IEEE-384.

Inspection of Unit 2, Safety Radiation Monitor Cabinets (Tag No.'s 2J-SQA-C01)

Both cabinets were supplied by Kaman Instrumentation Corporation.

II.

APPROACH TO AND STATUS OF PROPOSED RESULUTION Bechtel Engineering has reviewed the Kaman field representative's recommendations for corrective action with regard to re-routing cable runs and providing metal barriers between the appropriate terminal blocks to conform uith the Class IE raceway and cable separation criteria.

However, the remaining part of the corrective action requires an exception to NUREG 1.75 for low voltage computer information cables. This will require a FSAR Change Notice to be issued.

It is expected that FS AR Change Notice No. 1114 will be issued will be issued by mid-March of 1984.

III. STATUS OF CORRECTIVE ACTION The complete evaluation and Final Report are forecast to be completed by March 30, 1984.
