Subject:

Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 IE Inspection Report No. 83-18

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

Florida Power Corporation's response to Inspection Report No. 83-18, due September 21, 1983, will be submitted on or before October 12, 1983.

The additional time is necessary to carefully analyze the cause of this event; since this was a recurrent violation, and the initial corrective action was apparently ineffective. As an interim measure, the four deficient procedures identified by the inspector have been corrected.

Future long-term corrective actions will depend upon the results of the study currently in progress to determine the true cause of this problem. This information

{

will be submitted in the final response to this report.

I l

Sincerely, 0.).O '
